What your clients decide before they ever speak to you.
One idea. Five minutes. Something to take into your week.
Clients decide if you are worth considering before they contact you. A well-designed gate clarifies your value and attracts the right people before any conversation begins.
By the time a potential client reaches out to you, the decision is already halfway made.
Not the final decision. But the shortlist decision. The one where they decide you are worth considering at all.
That decision happens at the gate. Before the conversation. Before the proposal. Before they even know your pricing.
It happens based on what they have seen, heard, or been told. Your content. Your reputation. What someone said about you over lunch. The clarity or confusion of your positioning.
THE ONE IDEA
Most founders design their services carefully and their gate not at all. They assume the work will speak for itself. That clients will figure it out. Those good results will generate referrals that explain everything.
Sometimes this works. Until it does not. Until growth stalls and you cannot tell why. Until referrals slow and you realize you never built anything that could attract without one.
A designed gate means that before someone considers working with you, they already understand the problem you solve, the way you think about it, and why your approach is different from everyone else offering something similar.
This is what your LinkedIn presence, your newsletter, and your content all build toward. Not visibility for its own sake. A gate that qualifies the right people and prepares them before they knock.
APPLY THIS BEFORE FRIDAY
Ask yourself honestly: if someone discovered you today with no introduction and no referral, what would they find?
What does your gate say about the problem you solve and the way you solve it? Is it clear enough that the right founder would immediately feel they are in the right place?
If the answer is no or not sure, that is where your next piece of content should come from.
COMING MONDAY
Issue 05 goes into Operational Excellence. The single force that drives financial success, employee success, and client success simultaneously. It is the load-bearing wall of the entire framework.
The gate is the beginning of everything. Design it intentionally.
